Recently I had a very mini-retreat in Duluth, GA. I was reading through the book of Hebrews in a Holiday Inn and was hit with a verse I had read many times before. Readers (both of you) are probably familiar with it as well, it says that by faith Moses “considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.” – Hebrews 11:26 ESV
What is the reward Moses looked to? What was the reward that so motivated him that he would spurn political and material prominence as a member of the house of Pharaoh in order to be deliverer of God’s people? The great reward the writer of Hebrews suggests is God in Christ Jesus! It was God Himself.
I pray that by God’s help my love for Christ would be of such a degree that my joy in Him would be the strength I need to see suffering for His Name, as did Moses, of greater value than all the riches of this passing world.
I long that my love for Christ be such that no price I might pay, no loss I would endure, no bribe that may tempt me would be any more precious to me than the riches that are already mine in Christ Jesus.
May He be found infinitely more valuable to me than all the gold, precious jewels, and luxuries this world provides. May His love be greater to me than the accolades of man. May I always see clearly that these things don’t come close, and are not even in the same league as the excellencies and perfections found in Christ Jesus my Lord.

Something to ponder. Very good. Thanks for sharing with us.
